CASE STUDY: Simple Ways to Celebrate Employee Appreciation Week

A client in the financial services industry with around 2,000 employees in Australia and New Zealand, wanted to celebrate Employee Appreciation Week in a memorable and costs effective way.

The team at BI WORLDWIDE assisted our client in implementing a 2-week robust communications plan and tailored gamification on their recognition platform that delivered better than expected results.  

Objective

As part of Employee Appreciation Week which tied in with World Gratitude Day in September, our client wanted to create some buzz within the organisation over a 2-week period leading up to their upcoming townhall meeting. With limited budget available, the team at BI WORLDWIDE were given the task to propose effective ways to create awareness of Employee Appreciation Week and to encourage meaningful recognition during that period.

Solution

Our communications and design specialists came up with a communications campaign that entailed:

    • Educating employees on Employee Appreciation Week
    • Listing ways employees can be thankful - big or small
    • A clear call to action for employees to send a recognition with a Gratitude Day eCard on the recognition platform
    • Outlining those recognitions sent during this period went into the chance of being spotlighted publicly at their townhall event
    • Announcing Employee Appreciation Week in their internal monthly newsletter

Outcome

As a result, the employees clearly resonated with the gratitude campaign and the various communications over the 2-week period that contributed to the success of the campaign.

    • Over 3,000 recognitions were sent across the organisation
    • The two-week campaign saw a 91% increase in recognitions in comparison to the previous two weeks
    • The World Gratitude eCards made up 92% of the eCards chosen on their recognition platform
    • Total unique recognitions received and unique recognitions sent was the highest out of any other month.
